Forget for a minute about pushing yourself on conventional legs. Think about running without limbs-running fast without limbs or walking without limbs.....How many of you can sincerely merge with this idea...? Ever heard of a man named Oscar Pistorius, the blade runner..???
For those not in the know, Pistorius is a South African athlete who had both his legs amputated below the knees when he was just 11 months old.
But Oscar always had a dream to run. He didnt give up his life in vain. He restored his mind and decided to challenge the dirty destiny afallen on him. In time, he became the sprint master among disabled athletes. Modern day science has provided Pistorius with prosthetic legs that have allowed him to set world records in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.
The real challenge :
The physical challenge of just being able to run is huge in itself. But having gained mastery over his artificial limbs, Pistorius then had to deal with rejection—from the international athletics body, the IAAF. .Pistorius has been the subject of criticism because of claims that his artificial limbs give him an advantage over runners with natural ankles and feet. What the fuck now...? ( I'm sorry to be so short-tempered)
They would not allow him to compete against able-bodied runners because they deemed that his blades gave him an unfair advantage over his competitors. I personally pity this barbarians . Can anyone among this even dare to do the same stuff or even nearer to this...? Take out all your egoes out and learn the moral lesson out from him....
Not to be deterred, Pistorius challenged that ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and was successful. That victory gave him the chance to try to make the Beijing Olympics, but he just was not fast enough.Three years later, he is almost on the steps of the plane to London for 2012 Olympics GamesOscar Pistorius ran the race of his life in Lignano (Italy) on Tuesday night as he qualified for next month's world championships... and the Olympic Games
Pistorius finished sixth in the 400-meters at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in May 2011, with a time of 46.19 against a field of able-bodied athletes. Pistorius must meet the ‘A’ qualifying standard of 45.25 to compete at the world championships in Daegu and the London Olympics. On July 19, 2011, Pistorius clocked 45.07 in Lignano, thus qualifying for the world championships and the London Olympics.
" You're not disabled by the disabilities you have, You are able by the abilities you have.." Says Oscar Pistorius.... Hats off to you man....There are lots to gather from you...May you fulfill all your dreams and achieve the best in this world....
Wake up..!!!!
Cricketers saddled with incompetent administrators and stuck in teams with poor attitudes, lift up your heads!
Folks burdened down by the many problems of daily living, you can make it.
Try hard, try smart...just try and try. Like Oscar.
We are so gifted...On this occasion I offer my gratitude towards the Almighty God. There are so many people around us with so many disabilities. There is no point in sitting and counting ours and others disabilities. Life is full of ups and downs. Take the brighter side of life and cover those minute problems.
Its hightime to think yourself, to get motivated. Realise the inner values that lie on you unrevealed. Make the best out of it and show something to the world that you can do that much. Leave a signature of your own for the generations to cheer with so that on your last breath, you can sigh with a smile " I was able to do that.........
